STAINLESS STEEL

Staining and passivation

Ko-ar-logoKort.png

Stainless steel is corrosion-proof through its ability to form a protective oxide film. This chrome-nickel oxide skin is thin, so it may get damaged, discoloured or polluted as a result of processing and heat treatment. With staining we remove the pollution and chrome-nickel depleted spots created by, for instance, welding. This gives the stainless steel a matte appearance.

After the product has been thoroughly cleaned, KO-AR lets a new even chrome-nickel oxide film form at an accelerated pace. Through passivation the stainless steel becomes corrosion-proof again and also acquires a more attractive appearance.
